Here is a representation of the Shanghai Academy Artists in Residence! Over a five week period the team is instructing the new Music Theater Center at the Academy, the most controversial Broadway tuner in China, MISS SAIGON. Just take a beat and imagine the Chinese ensemble being introduced to, grasping the complex understanding of and finally performing as if they were there...the quintessential theater piece about the Vietnam War.
From left to right: Robert McQueen (director), Lisa Kassay (choreographer), Chuan Jing Jing (associate music director), and Ma Yue (faculty supervisor). Missing - Jasper Grant (musical director), Don Frantz (producer) and Wang Luoyong (visionary and artistic director of the new centre)
Robert McQueen and the actors at work.
And even though there will be no audience for this project, the players will certainly gain some perspective about us and the world around them.
